David Bowie was a former resident of Vineland Island and is a Mii based on the famous singer of the same name, as well as being Sponge's best friend during Vinny's Tomodachi Life Series. He was released from the game in 2016 during episode Tomodachi Life Part 56 after the real David Bowie passed away.

David Bowie is one of the residents added to Vineland Island in Vinesauce Tomodachi Life Part 20. He becomes Sponge's best friend over the course of the series, and makes a sad pirate album about Ziggy Sawdust.

On 10 January 2016, two days after his 69th birthday, David Bowie passed away from liver cancer. Out of tribute, Bowie's Mii counterpart was given a dedicated episode by Vinny, where he spent a few more hours with him, before finally releasing him in tribute.
